Phillip's parents, Joe and Mattie, ran the Hillcrest Motel on Hwy 67 east of town near the bowling alley.  Their home was attached to the motel's office and Phillip's room was unit #1.  Shortly after graduation, the Faulks moved to Longview.  Their home was and still is open to all of Phillip's friends.  Phillip spent his first year in college at Stephen F. Austin State University.  After that year, Wes talked Phillip and Mickey into transferring to the University of Texas to attend school with Vaughan.  Phillip graduated from UT in 79 with a history degree and bought a home in Austin.  He lived in Austin up to the time of his death in 2000.  While his father had died years before, his mother is still doing well in Longview. He has two brothers - Malcolm Brown  and Charlie "Mac" Brown.
